diffServMaxRateThreshold

Module: DIFFSERV-MIB

OID (symbolic): DIFFSERV-MIB::diffServMaxRateThreshold

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.2.1.97.1.8.6.1.5

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: BurstSize

Access: read-create

Description: The number of bytes of queue depth at which the rate of a multi-rate scheduler will increase to the next output rate. In the last conceptual row for such a shaper, this threshold is ignored and by convention is zero.

What is diffServMaxRateThreshold?

For a multi-rate (e.g. dual-leaky-bucket) shaper, the queue-depth in bytes at which the shaper steps up from this rate level to the next higher one; on the last/highest rate level this value is ignored and conventionally zero. Admins configure a ladder of these thresholds to build burst-tolerant multi-rate shaping, e.g. Frame Relay committed/excess rates.
