dbpTransientFailureNotif

Module: DIAMETER-BASE-PROTOCOL-MIB

OID (symbolic): DIAMETER-BASE-PROTOCOL-MIB::dbpTransientFailureNotif

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.2.1.119.1.0.2

Node type: NOTIFICATION-TYPE

Description: An dbpTransientFailure Notification is sent when both the following conditions are true: 1) the value of dbpTransientFailureNotifEnabled is True(1) 2) the value of dbpPerPeerStatsTransientFailures changes It can be utilized by an NMS to trigger logical/physical entity table maintenance polls. An agent must not generate more than one dbpTransientFailure 'notification event' in a five second period, where a 'notification event' is the transmission of a single notification PDU to a list of notification destinations. If additional transient failures occur within the five second 'throttling' period, then these notification events should be suppressed by the agent. An NMS should periodically check the value of dbpPerPeerStatsTransientFailures to detect any missed dbpTransientFailure notification events, e.g. due to throttling or transmission loss.

Examples

Send this trap to an SNMP manager — replace <manager> with the IP or hostname of your monitoring server (SNMPv2c):

snmptrap -v2c -c public <manager> '' DIAMETER-BASE-PROTOCOL-MIB::dbpTransientFailureNotif
snmptrap -v2c -c public <manager> '' 1.3.6.1.2.1.119.1.0.2

Listen for incoming traps on the manager host (-f keeps it in the foreground, -Lo prints to stdout — useful for testing):

snmptrapd -f -Lo -c /dev/null authCommunity log public

Example snmptrapd log entry:

zoo11-linux.zoo [UDP: [192.168.30.111]:52724->[192.168.30.10]:162]:
  DISMAN-EVENT-MIB::sysUpTimeInstance = Timeticks: (306490868) 35 days, 11:21:48.68
  SNMPv2-MIB::snmpTrapOID.0 = OID: DIAMETER-BASE-PROTOCOL-MIB::dbpTransientFailureNotif
