Description: L3 management MIB for D-Link DGS-3420-52P 52-port PoE switch covering Layer 3 routing and advanced management objects.

Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is DGS-3420-52P-L3MGMT-MIB?

DGS-3420-52P-L3MGMT-MIB is a D-Link proprietary MIB providing Layer 3 network management information for the DGS-3420-52P 52-port PoE Gigabit switch, covering routing configuration such as OSPF ECMP settings, route preference, and link-state database management, matching the same structure used across D-Link's DGS-3420 family L3MGMT MIBs. It exposes control-plane configuration objects for how the switch computes equal-cost multipath hashing and prioritizes routes rather than hardware sensor data. Its monitoring value lies in verifying that OSPF/ECMP routing behavior and route preference are configured as intended, which helps explain observed traffic path selection or routing anomalies. It parallels IETF OSPF-MIB (RFC 4750) concepts even though implemented as a proprietary module. It is deployed where the 52-port PoE DGS-3420-52P switch operates at Layer 3 in an access or distribution role requiring OSPF routing. Engineers can download the DGS-3420-52P-L3MGMT-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in DGS-3420-52P-L3MGMT-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • D-Link DGS-3420-52P PoE Gigabit switch

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would check swL3OspfECMPState together with the ECMP hash fields (CRC and TCP/UDP port inputs) to confirm multipath load balancing is functioning as configured across the switch's 52 ports. Reviewing swL3RoutePreference explains why the switch prefers one route source over another when multiple paths to a destination are advertised. Checking the OSPF link-state database management objects (swL3OspfLsdbMgmt) helps confirm the LSDB is being maintained correctly, useful when troubleshooting route flapping or inconsistent OSPF adjacency behavior.

What Can Be Monitored

  • OSPF ECMP state
  • ECMP hash configuration
  • route preference ordering
  • OSPF link-state database management

How to Use in IPNetwork Monitor

Example using swL3ospfVirtIfEvents OID:

Select a D-Link DGS-3420-52P PoE Gigabit switch (L3) as the target host to create a monitor — the SNMP service should be up and running on it. Click New Monitor, then check SNMP Custom on the Favorites tab, click Next, and confirm the host. On the next page, click Select... to open the built-in SNMP MIB Browser and type swL3ospfVirtIfEvents into the Find box to locate it in the OID tree, selecting the specific row/instance you want to monitor since this is a table column, then select it and click OK. The number of state changes or error events on this Virtual Link. On the monitor's Main parameters page you can set the target's SNMP port (default 161), credentials, polling interval, and other settings — see the SNMP Monitor help for details. On the State conditions and Alerting tabs, configure when the monitor should change state and trigger an alert; since this is a Counter32-type OID, Value bounds is the most useful condition here — trigger an alert if the counter increases between polls, since a rising count of errors, failures, or discards often points to a real underlying problem. Click Finish to create the monitor; you can adjust any parameter later.
