swL3IpCtrlIpDhcpOption12HostName

Module: DGS-3120-48PC-L3MGMT-MIB

OID (symbolic): DGS-3120-48PC-L3MGMT-MIB::swL3IpCtrlIpDhcpOption12HostName

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.171.11.117.1.5.3.2.1.3.1.23

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: DisplayString

Access: read-write

Description: Specify the host name to be inserted in the DHCPDISCOVER and DHCPREQUEST message. The specified host name must start with a letter, end with a letter or digit, and have only letters, digits, and hyphen as interior characters; the maximal length is 63. By default, the host name is empty. When set an empty host name, means to clear the host name setting and use the default value to encode option 12.

What is swL3IpCtrlIpDhcpOption12HostName?

Sets the host name string (up to 63 characters, starting and ending with a letter/digit and using only letters, digits, and hyphens) inserted as DHCP Option 12 in this interface's DHCP requests; leaving it empty clears the setting and falls back to the default encoding. An admin identifying this switch distinctly on a DHCP server's lease table would set a recognizable host name here instead of relying on the device's default option-12 encoding.
