Module: DC-ISIS-MIB
OID (symbolic): DC-ISIS-MIB::isisCircPtToPtOverLAN
OID (numeric): 1.2.826.0.1.1578918.5.63.1.1.3.2.1.26
Node type: OBJECT-TYPE
Type: TruthValue
Access: read-create
Description: Allows a broadcast circuit to be configured to operate point-to-point over LAN procedures.
This is used in conjunction with the isisCircType object as follows.
- If isisCircType = 'ptToPt', the circuit is a standard point-point circuit, and isisCircPtToPtOverLAN is ignored.
- If isisCircType = 'broadcast' and isisCircPtToPtOverLAN is 'false', the circuit is used as a normal LAN.
- If isisCircType = 'broadcast' and isisCircPtToPtOverLAN is 'true', point-point over LAN procedures are followed.
Point-to-point over LAN procedures should only be configured when there are just two Intermediate Systems operating on the LAN.
This object follows the replaceOnlyWhileDisabled behavior.
What is isisCircPtToPtOverLAN?
When this circuit's type (isisCircType) is 'broadcast', setting this true makes it run point-to-point-over-LAN procedures instead of normal multi-access LAN procedures (meaningful only with exactly two Intermediate Systems on that LAN segment); it's ignored when isisCircType is already 'ptToPt', and like isisCircType it can only be changed while the circuit is disabled. An admin enables this on an Ethernet segment connecting exactly two routers to skip DIS election overhead and behave like a true point-to-point adjacency.
