Description: Manages Cyclone networking equipment configuration and operational status objects.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is CYCLONE-MIB?
CYCLONE-MIB is a MIB from Adaptec/Cyclone (storage management division) for monitoring SCSI-based storage adapters and disk array controllers, covering host adapter identification, SCSI bus/channel/target/LUN addressing, and array configuration. It exposes objects identifying the host adapter vendor, product, and controller model, its bus/channel topology, per-array naming, and a miscompare counter used in array verification/consistency checks. Its monitoring role centers on storage subsystem health: cycMisCompares is a direct data-integrity indicator from RAID verify mismatches, while the adapter/controller identification objects help confirm correct hardware and let an NMS map SCSI addressing to a specific array for fault isolation. It is a vendor-private MIB under the Adaptec storage-management OID branch, generally used standalone without dependency on standard storage MIBs. It is deployed on servers or storage systems using Adaptec/Cyclone SCSI host bus adapters and array controllers, monitored for RAID/array integrity and adapter health. Engineers can download the CYCLONE-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CYCLONE-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Adaptec/Cyclone SCSI host adapter and disk array controller
Monitoring Examples
A storage administrator would poll cycMisCompares for a given cycArrayName to detect data-integrity mismatches surfaced during a RAID consistency check, which can indicate a failing disk. cycControllerModel and cycHostAdapterID identify exactly which physical adapter is reporting the fault, while cycBusNumber, cycChannelNumber, cycScsiTargetID, and cycLun pinpoint the specific SCSI device/LUN involved. cycVendor and cycProduct confirm the adapter's make/model for support and compatibility purposes.
What Can Be Monitored
- array miscompare/data-integrity count
- host adapter identification (vendor/product/model)
- SCSI bus/channel/target/LUN addressing
- array name/topology
