vrConfigFastSwitchingOption

Module: CXVR-MIB

OID (symbolic): CXVR-MIB::vrConfigFastSwitchingOption

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.495.2.1.6.50.20.6

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: This object refers to Dial Digit Packing for transmission of the extension numbers. The digits can be sent either 2 bytes or 4 bytes long.

Options: vrprtysmall (1): The priority (using 2 bytes) is to minimize the amount of bandwidth used. This option is more CPU intensive, and slower.

vrprtyroute (2): The priority (using 4 bytes) is speed. This option will minimize CPU usage but will require more bandwidth.

Default Value: vrprtysmall (1)

What is vrConfigFastSwitchingOption?

This read-write setting controls how extension numbers are packed for transmission: vrprtysmall (default) uses 2-byte encoding to save bandwidth at the cost of more CPU load, while vrprtyroute uses 4-byte encoding to save CPU at the cost of more bandwidth. An admin on a bandwidth-constrained WAN link would keep the default; one with CPU-bound routers but plentiful bandwidth would switch to vrprtyroute.
