Description: Sets the interval, in seconds, at which DECnet Phase IV distance-vector-based routing protocol sends Hello packets on the router port for which the entry exists.

What is nwDecIVProtoIfHelloTimer?

nwDecIVProtoIfHelloTimer is a read-write integer setting, in seconds, how often the DECnet Phase IV distance-vector-based routing protocol sends Hello packets on the router port identified by this row. An admin tunes this to control how quickly the protocol detects a dead neighbor on that port, since Hello packets are what confirm a neighbor router is still alive. For example, shortening nwDecIVProtoIfHelloTimer on a critical link lets the router notice a failed neighbor faster, at the cost of sending Hello packets more often on that port.
