What is nwDecIVProtoIfCtrDiscardPkts?
nwDecIVProtoIfCtrDiscardPkts is a read-only Counter tracking the total number of DECnet packets that have been discarded, for the DECnet Phase IV distance-vector-based routing protocol's traffic on this one specific router port, during the relevant OperationalTime measurement window. An admin watching this counter climb faster than expected knows DECnet packets are being dropped somewhere along the forwarding path, warranting investigation into the cause. For example, an unexpected spike in discarded pkts for the routing protocol on this one port would lead an admin to check for congestion or misconfiguration in that port's routing-protocol traffic.
