nwDecIVHostMapType

Module: CTRON-DECIV-ROUTER-MIB

OID (symbolic): CTRON-DECIV-ROUTER-MIB::nwDecIVHostMapType

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.52.4.2.2.2.3.3.2.6.3.1.1.3

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: Setting this object to the value invalid(2) has the effect of invalidating the corresponding entry in the nwDecIVHostMapTable. That is, it effectively dissasociates the circuitand/or interface identified with said entry from the mapping identified with said entry. It is an implementation- specific matter as to whether the agent removes an invalidated entry from the table. Accordingly, management stations must be prepared to receive tabular information from agents that corresponds to entries not currently in use. Proper inter- pretation of such entries requires examination of the relevant wDecIVHostMapType object.

What is nwDecIVHostMapType?

nwDecIVHostMapType is a read-write enumeration describing the nature of a host-map entry, where setting it to invalid(2) disassociates the circuit or interface from that mapping, and the MIB notes it is implementation-specific whether the agent then actually removes the entry from the table, so management stations should be prepared for the entry to simply be marked invalid rather than disappear. An admin sets this to dynamic(3), static(4), or inactive(5) to classify how a host mapping was learned or should be treated, and uses invalid(2) to retire an entry. For example, an admin who manually configures a fixed host-to-interface mapping would set nwDecIVHostMapType to static(4) rather than leaving it as a dynamically learned dynamic(3) entry.
