An administrator uses this to bypass a Token Ring board's ring port specifically, distinct from the board's overall FNB bypass, when the hardware supports this finer-grained control. For example, to remove a malfunctioning Token Ring port from the physical ring without detaching the whole board from the backplane, the admin sets this object to enabled(3) where supported.
