Description: The status of this zone entry. Setting this object to the value invalid(2) has the effect of invalidating the corresponding entry in the nwAtportZoneTable. That is, it effectively disassociates the mapping identified with said entry. It is an implementation-specific matter as to whether the agent removes an invalidated entry from the table. Accordingly, management stations must be prepared to receive from agents tabular information corresponding to entries not currently in use. Proper interpretation of such entries requires examination of the relevant nwAtportZoneStatus object.

What is nwAtportZoneStatus?

This read-write enumerated value marks a specific AppleTalk port-zone mapping entry as valid(1) or invalid(2), where setting invalid effectively removes that zone association. An admin sets this to invalid(2) to retire an obsolete zone mapping without necessarily knowing whether the agent will immediately purge the table row. For example, an admin decommissioning the "Old-Finance" zone on port 3 would set this field to invalid(2), after which management stations should treat that mapping as gone even if it still briefly appears in the table.
