nwAtProtoOperSTATUS

Module: CTRON-AppleTalk-ROUTER-MIB

OID (symbolic): CTRON-AppleTalk-ROUTER-MIB::nwAtProtoOperSTATUS

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.52.4.2.2.2.3.4.2.4.1.1.1.1.2

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-only

Description: Indicates the current operating condition of the AppleTalk Routing Services distance-vector-based routing protocol, system-wide. The value of nwAtProtoOperStatus indicates any problem with the routing protocol configuration. A value of 6 indicates that regardless of the value of nwAtProtoAdminStatus, the routing protocol is not operating because of an invalid configuration.

What is nwAtProtoOperSTATUS?

This read-only INTEGER reports the actual operating condition of the AppleTalk distance-vector routing protocol system-wide, and per its description a value of 6 means the protocol isn't operating because of an invalid configuration regardless of the admin-status setting. An administrator relies on it to confirm route exchange is genuinely functioning, not just administratively turned on. Seeing nwAtProtoOperSTATUS return 6 while nwAtProtoAdminSTATUS shows enabled(3) tells a technician a configuration problem, not intentional shutdown, is blocking AppleTalk route exchange.
