nwAtProtoIfSplitHorizon

Module: CTRON-AppleTalk-ROUTER-MIB

OID (symbolic): CTRON-AppleTalk-ROUTER-MIB::nwAtProtoIfSplitHorizon

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.52.4.2.2.2.3.4.2.4.1.1.2.1.1.1.11

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: Sets the operating condition of Split Horizon on the router port for which the entry exists. When Split Horizon is enabled, the AppleTalk routing protocol keeps track of which router port route information is received on, and prevents information about a route form being sent back out the same router port it was received on.

What is nwAtProtoIfSplitHorizon?

This read-write INTEGER (other/disabled/enabled) controls Split Horizon on a router port; when enabled, the AppleTalk routing protocol tracks which port a route was learned on and avoids re-advertising that route back out the same port. An administrator enables it to prevent unnecessary or looped route advertisements on a segment shared by multiple AppleTalk routers. Enabling nwAtProtoIfSplitHorizon on a port connecting two routers on the same LAN segment stops each router from pointlessly re-announcing routes it just learned from the other back toward it.
