nwAtProtoIfSnooping

Module: CTRON-AppleTalk-ROUTER-MIB

OID (symbolic): CTRON-AppleTalk-ROUTER-MIB::nwAtProtoIfSnooping

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.52.4.2.2.2.3.4.2.4.1.1.2.1.1.1.13

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: Controls the operation of AppleTalk routing protocol Snooping on the router port. When AppleTalk routing protocol Snooping is enabled, the routing protocol operates in passive mode, so that it receives route information, builds and maintains a route table, but does not advertise or send updates on the router port for which the entry exists.

What is nwAtProtoIfSnooping?

This read-write INTEGER (other/disabled/enabled) controls AppleTalk routing protocol Snooping on a router port; when enabled, the protocol operates in passive mode, building and maintaining a route table from received updates but never advertising or sending updates itself out that port. An administrator enables it on a port where the device should learn the AppleTalk topology without influencing it, such as a monitoring tap. Enabling nwAtProtoIfSnooping on a port connected to a passive monitoring link lets the router build an accurate AppleTalk route table there without risking injecting bad routes onto that segment.
