nwAtProtoIfPoisonReverse

Module: CTRON-AppleTalk-ROUTER-MIB

OID (symbolic): CTRON-AppleTalk-ROUTER-MIB::nwAtProtoIfPoisonReverse

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.52.4.2.2.2.3.4.2.4.1.1.2.1.1.1.12

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: Sets the operating condition of Poison Reverse on the router port for which the entry exists. When Poison Reverse is enabled, the AppleTalk routing protocol advertises any downed routes as unreachable during the period of time that it must wait before removing the route from the route table.

What is nwAtProtoIfPoisonReverse?

This read-write INTEGER (other/disabled/enabled) controls Poison Reverse on a router port; when enabled, the AppleTalk routing protocol advertises a downed route as unreachable during the period before it's removed from the route table, rather than staying silent about it. An administrator enables it to speed up convergence when a route fails, reducing the chance of routing loops during that window. Enabling nwAtProtoIfPoisonReverse on a redundant AppleTalk link helps neighboring routers learn immediately that a failed route is unreachable rather than waiting for it to simply time out.
