nwAtNetDiagOutboundNBPType

Module: CTRON-AppleTalk-ROUTER-MIB

OID (symbolic): CTRON-AppleTalk-ROUTER-MIB::nwAtNetDiagOutboundNBPType

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.52.4.2.2.2.3.4.2.12.3.10

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: Specifies the type of outbound NBP diagnostic function to initiate. Upon setting this value to any value other than noAction (1) or other (10), the corresponding request will be made and the value will be set to noAction (1).

What is nwAtNetDiagOutboundNBPType?

This read-write enumerated value selects which specific outbound NBP diagnostic action to run, such as a local request, multicast lookup, broadcast lookup, or direct lookup, and the router resets it to noAction(1) once the request completes. An admin picks the appropriate NBP query mode based on how broadly they want to search the AppleTalk network -- for instance a direct lookup targets a known node while a broadcast lookup canvasses the whole segment. For example, setting this to lookupBcast(4) would trigger a broadcast NBP query across the configured port and zone to look for any matching named service, then the value would revert to noAction automatically.
