nwAtFwdIfCacheControl

Module: CTRON-AppleTalk-ROUTER-MIB

OID (symbolic): CTRON-AppleTalk-ROUTER-MIB::nwAtFwdIfCacheControl

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.52.4.2.2.2.3.4.2.2.2.1.1.1.11

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: Controls AppleTalk Address caching on the router port for which the entry exists. When AppleTalk Address caching is enabled, AppleTalk Addresses used for address validation, filtering, and forwarding are stored in the cache. This cache is checked first before doing a full route table lockup, which speeds up the switching process. Enabled (3) turns on AppleTalk Address caching. Disabled (2) turns it off.

What is nwAtFwdIfCacheControl?

This read-write INTEGER (other/disable/enable) turns AppleTalk address caching on or off for a specific router port; when enabled, addresses used for validation, filtering, and forwarding are cached and checked before a full route-table lookup, speeding up switching. An administrator would enable it on busy ports to reduce lookup overhead and disable it if cache-related forwarding anomalies are suspected. Disabling nwAtFwdIfCacheControl on a port that's forwarding to the wrong destination helps confirm whether a stale cache entry, rather than the routing table itself, was the cause.

Examples

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> CTRON-AppleTalk-ROUTER-MIB::nwAtFwdIfCacheControl

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.52.4.2.2.2.3.4.2.2.2.1.1.1.11.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> CTRON-AppleTalk-ROUTER-MIB::nwAtFwdIfCacheControl.1

Set instance 1 (SNMPv2c):

snmpset -v2c -c private <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.52.4.2.2.2.3.4.2.2.2.1.1.1.11.1 i <value>
