ctDiscoveryControlDataSource

Module: CTRMONXT-MIB

OID (symbolic): CTRMONXT-MIB::ctDiscoveryControlDataSource

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.52.4.3.2.20.2.1.2

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: OBJECT IDENTIFIER

Access: read-write

Description: This object identifies the source of the data from which this entry creates address relationships. This source can be any interface on this device. In order to identify a particular interface, this object shall identify the instance of the ifIndex object, defined in [4,6], for the desired interface. For example, if an entry were to receive data from interface #1, this object would be set to ifIndex.1.

The statistics in this group reflect all packets on the local network segment attached to the identified interface.

This object may not be modified if the associated ctDiscoveryControlStatus object is equal to valid(1).

What is ctDiscoveryControlDataSource?

This read-write object identifier names the interface, via its ifIndex instance such as ifIndex.1, that a discovery entry monitors as its data source. An admin sets this to point the discovery function at a specific interface to observe traffic on. For example, an admin sets ctDiscoveryControlDataSource to ifIndex.3 so the discovery function learns MAC/IP pairs by observing traffic on interface 3.

Examples

Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.52.4.3.2.20.2.1.2
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> CTRMONXT-MIB::ctDiscoveryControlDataSource

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.52.4.3.2.20.2.1.2.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> CTRMONXT-MIB::ctDiscoveryControlDataSource.1

Set instance 1 (SNMPv2c):

snmpset -v2c -c private <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.52.4.3.2.20.2.1.2.1 s <value>

SNMPv3 example:

snmpget -v3 -l authPriv -u snmpv3-user -a SHA -A "AuthPassword1" -x AES -X "PrivPassword1" <target> ctDiscoveryControlDataSource.1
