Module: CT-DS0ent-MIB
OID (symbolic): CT-DS0ent-MIB::ctDs0ifSpecific
OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.52.4497.20.2.1.22
Node type: OBJECT-TYPE
Type: OBJECT IDENTIFIER
Access: read-only
Description: A reference to MIB definitions specific to the particular media being used to realize the interface. It is recommended that this value point to an instance of a MIB object in the media-specific MIB, i.e., that this object have the semantics associated with the InstancePointer textual convention defined in RFC 1443. In fact, it is recommended that the media- specific MIB specify what value ifSpecific should/can take for values of ifType. If no MIB definitions specific to the particular media are available, the value should be set to the OBJECT IDENTIFIER { 0 0 }.
What is ctDs0ifSpecific?
This read-only OBJECT IDENTIFIER points to media-specific MIB definitions containing more detailed information about the particular technology realizing this interface, following the InstancePointer conventions from RFC 1443. An admin, or more typically management software, follows this pointer to drill down into technology-specific details, such as T1/E1 framing parameters, not exposed in the generic DS0 table. For example, following this pointer for a T1-based DS0 channel might lead into a T1-specific MIB exposing line coding and framing format details unavailable in this generic entity table.
