ctDs0ifOperStatus
Module: CT-DS0ent-MIB
OID (symbolic): CT-DS0ent-MIB::ctDs0ifOperStatus
OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.52.4497.20.2.1.8
Node type: OBJECT-TYPE
Type: INTEGER
Access: read-only
Description: The current operational state of the interface. The testing(3) state indicates that no operational packets can be passed. If ctDs0ifAdminStatus is down(2) then ctDs0ifOperStatus should be down(2). If ctDs0ifAdminStatus is changed to up(1) then ctDs0ifOperStatus should change to up(1) if the interface is ready to transmit and receive network traffic; it should change to dormant(5) if the interface is waiting for external actions (such as a serial line waiting for an incomming connection); it should remain in the down(2) state if and only if there is a fault that prevents if from going to the up(1) state.
What is ctDs0ifOperStatus?
This read-only up/down/testing/unknown/dormant INTEGER reports the interface's actual current operational state, which must read down(2) whenever ctDs0ifAdminStatus is down(2), and which becomes up(1) if the interface is ready to pass traffic or dormant(5) if it is waiting on some external action once admin status is set to up(1). An admin polls this to verify a DS0 channel that was administratively brought up has actually become ready to carry traffic. For example, an interface stuck reporting dormant(5) after being administratively enabled would tell the admin the channel is waiting on some external condition, such as far-end signaling, before it can pass traffic.
