Because the centerplane carries power and signal traces between all system boards in the chassis, tracking each temperature point separately lets an admin pinpoint which physical region is overheating rather than just knowing the centerplane overall is warm. For instance, comparing this sixth reading against temp point 4 can tell whether heat is concentrated near one connector bank or spread evenly across the board.
