upsBaseControlConserveBattery

Module: CPS-MIB

OID (symbolic): CPS-MIB::upsBaseControlConserveBattery

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.3808.1.1.1.6.1.1

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: UPS on battery will enter sleeping when the variable is set to turnOffUpsToConserveBattery(2). When utility power recovers the UPS will turn back on. Trying to turn off a UPS that is not on battery mode will cause badValue error. It is no effective to set this value to noTurnOffUps(1).

What is upsBaseControlConserveBattery?

This read-write enumerated value, when set to turnOffUpsToConserveBattery, puts the UPS to sleep while it's running on battery; the MIB notes this command only works while already on battery and produces a badValue error otherwise, while setting it to noTurnOffUps has no effect. An admin uses it to proactively shut down non-critical equipment during an outage to conserve remaining charge, rather than waiting for the low-battery threshold. For example, an admin sets this to turnOffUpsToConserveBattery(2) during an extended outage to shut down non-critical equipment early and stretch remaining runtime for more important gear.
