Description: A count of frames for which transmission on a particular interface fails due to an internal MAC sublayer transmit error. A frame is only counted by an instance of this object if it is not counted by the corresponding instance of either the cpqNicIfPhysAdapterLateCollisions object, the cpqNicIfPhysAdapterExcessiveCollisions object, or the cpqNicIfPhysAdapterCarrierSenseErrors object.

The precise meaning of the count represented by an instance of this object is implementation- specific. In particular, an instance of this object may represent a count of transmission errors on a particular interface that are not otherwise counted.

What is cpqNicIfPhysAdapterInternalMacTransmitErrors?

This read-only counter tallies frames whose transmission on this interface failed due to an internal MAC sublayer transmit error, counted here only if not already counted by the late collision, excessive collision, or carrier sense error counters. An admin treats a rising count here, when the more specific transmit error counters remain low, as pointing to an internal hardware or driver fault rather than a cabling or contention issue. For example, this counter climbing while late collisions and carrier sense errors stay at zero suggests the adapter hardware itself, not the network segment, is the problem.
