Description: A count of frames for which reception on a particular interface fails due to an internal MAC sublayer receive error. A frame is only counted by an instance of this object if it is not counted by the corresponding instance of either the cpqNicIfPhysAdapterStatsFrameTooLongs object, the cpqNicIfPhysAdapterStatsAlignmentErrors object, or the cpqNicIfPhysAdapterStatsFCSErrors object.

The precise meaning of the count represented by an instance of this object is implementation- specific. In particular, an instance of this object may represent a count of receive errors on a particular interface that are not otherwise counted.

What is cpqNicIfPhysAdapterInternalMacReceiveErrors?

This read-only counter tallies frames whose reception on this interface failed due to an internal MAC sublayer receive error, counted here only if not already counted by the frame-too-long, alignment, or FCS error counters. An admin treats a rising count here, when the more specific receive error counters stay low, as pointing to an internal hardware or driver fault rather than cabling. For example, this counter climbing while alignment and FCS errors remain at zero suggests the adapter's own receive circuitry, not the cable, needs investigation.
