This read-only counter reports the number of MAC address entries in the longest chain within the interface's Address Filter/Forward hash table. An admin uses this together with the chain-count object to assess how badly the hash table is collision-loaded, since a very long chain slows down lookups for those particular addresses. For example, a chain length of 10 or more on a heavily loaded interface would be a signal that address-table performance may be degrading for MAC addresses in that chain.
