cpeCfgMgrConcurrentUpdateLimit

Module: CPE-MANAGER

OID (symbolic): CPE-MANAGER::cpeCfgMgrConcurrentUpdateLimit

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.5504.3.1.21.1.1.1.3

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: Unsigned32

Access: read-write

Description: The number of CPEs that can be granted the short lease IP with required updates by this CO device before an update storm is declared. Since downloads and uploads of files from a CPE will be NAT/PAT'ed at the CO CPU, too many at one time can impact CO performance. This field provides for tuning this performance as the local environment allows.

What is cpeCfgMgrConcurrentUpdateLimit?

This read-write Unsigned32 caps how many CPEs the CO device will simultaneously grant a short-lease IP with pending required updates before it declares an 'update storm'. An admin tunes this value because every CPE download or upload gets NAT/PAT'ed through the CO's own CPU, so too many concurrent updates degrade CO performance for all attached CPEs. For example, after a firmware rollout to hundreds of CPEs causes the CO device to slow down, the operator lowers cpeCfgMgrConcurrentUpdateLimit to throttle how many CPEs update at once.
