cpeCfgMgrClientForceUpdate

Module: CPE-MANAGER

OID (symbolic): CPE-MANAGER::cpeCfgMgrClientForceUpdate

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.5504.3.1.21.1.3.1.3.6

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: Writable object causing the immediate update of the CPE. After initiating the requested update, this field reverts to the 'none' state.

renewDhcp - Simply restarts the DHCP handshake. This could cause an update if the configuration on the CO device has changed.

updateConfig - This resets any previous configuration information and restarts the DHCP handshake. This has the effect of forcing a download and install of the configuration file even if it was the same as the previously installed file.

What is cpeCfgMgrClientForceUpdate?

This read-write INTEGER lets an admin immediately trigger renewDhcp(1) to restart the DHCP handshake or updateConfig(2) to reset prior configuration state and restart that handshake, with the field automatically reverting to none(0) once the action is initiated. An admin uses updateConfig(2) as a heavier-handed remediation when a CPE seems stuck in a bad configuration state, beyond what a simple DHCP renewal would fix. For example, when a CPE stops responding to normal configuration pushes, support sets cpeCfgMgrClientForceUpdate to updateConfig(2) to force it back through the full provisioning sequence.
