cxConvPortAlias

Module: CONV-MIB

OID (symbolic): CONV-MIB::cxConvPortAlias

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.495.2.1.6.8.1.1.2

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: Alias

Access: read-write

Description: Determines a textual name (alias), assigned by the network administrator, which identifies a particular convergence port. The alias is used by the routing and bridging protocols when they bind to this port.

Range of Values: 0-16 alphanumeric characters. (Note that the first character must be a letter, and spaces are not allowed).

Default Value: none

Note: The system defines two default entries; their respective values are CNV_PORT1 and CNV_PORT2.

Configuration Changed: administrative

What is cxConvPortAlias?

A read-write textual alias, up to 16 alphanumeric characters starting with a letter, assigned by the network administrator to identify a particular convergence port. Routing and bridging protocols bind to the port using this alias, so giving it a meaningful name helps an admin recognize which physical circuit a routing configuration entry refers to. An admin renaming the default "CNV_PORT1" alias to something like "BRANCH_WAN1" would then see that clearer name reflected wherever routing protocols reference the port.

Examples

Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.495.2.1.6.8.1.1.2
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> CONV-MIB::cxConvPortAlias

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.495.2.1.6.8.1.1.2.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> CONV-MIB::cxConvPortAlias.1

Set instance 1 (SNMPv2c):

snmpset -v2c -c private <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.495.2.1.6.8.1.1.2.1 s <value>
