cxConvCompression

Module: CONV-MIB

OID (symbolic): CONV-MIB::cxConvCompression

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.495.2.1.6.8.1.1.6

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: Determines whether the port is linked to a compression port. If the port is not linked to a compression port the value is 0. If the port is linked to a compression port, then the object identifies the compression port number (CompressPortNumber on CompressTable.)

Range of Values: 0 to 64.

Default Value: 0.

Configuration Changed: administrative

What is cxConvCompression?

A read-write integer identifying which compression port, if any, this convergence port is linked to, with 0 meaning no compression link is configured. Linking a convergence port to a compression port lets the system reduce bandwidth usage on that circuit, so an admin checks this value to confirm whether compression is actually in effect for a given port. If a convergence port is expected to use compression but cxConvCompression reads 0, the admin would know the compression link was never actually configured despite the intent.

Examples

Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.495.2.1.6.8.1.1.6
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> CONV-MIB::cxConvCompression

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.495.2.1.6.8.1.1.6.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> CONV-MIB::cxConvCompression.1

Set instance 1 (SNMPv2c):

snmpset -v2c -c private <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.495.2.1.6.8.1.1.6.1 i <value>
