Description: Common MIB definitions for 4RF Communications microwave and point-to-point radio link equipment management.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is COMMON-4RF?

COMMON-4RF is a vendor-specific MIB module from 4RF Communications used to manage the company's family of microwave and point-to-point wireless radio link equipment. It exposes system-level identification and configuration data such as IP addressing, subnet mask, default gateway, and system date/time, alongside serial number and software version information. It supports monitoring of hardware and software status through objects like last-reset time (revealing unexpected reboots), software version (for firmware compliance), and remote IP reachability of the far-end radio. It is a self-contained common object set reused across the 4RF product line with no significant dependency on external standard MIBs beyond basic SMI conventions. It is typically deployed in telecom/utility microwave backhaul networks, polled by an NMS for configuration audit and fault diagnosis. Engineers can download the COMMON-4RF file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in COMMON-4RF. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • 4RF microwave radio
  • point-to-point wireless link equipment

Monitoring Examples

An operator would poll fourRFSystemSoftwareVersion and fourRFSystemSerialNumber to confirm firmware consistency across a fleet of radios, and check fourRFSystemLastReset to detect unexpected reboots indicating power or hardware faults. fourRFSystemIpAddress and fourRFSystemRemoteIpAddress let a management station verify local and remote-end IP addressing of a point-to-point microwave link. fourRFMibBackup indicates whether the current configuration has been backed up, and fourRFReset can be correlated with observed outages during maintenance windows.

What Can Be Monitored

  • software version
  • last reset time/cause
  • IP address/gateway configuration
  • system date and time
  • serial number
  • MIB backup status
