cmAuthProtocol

Module: CM-SECURITY-MIB

OID (symbolic): CM-SECURITY-MIB::cmAuthProtocol

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.2544.1.12.10.1.1

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: CmRemoteAuthProtocol

Access: read-write

Description: Remote user authentication protocol.

What is cmAuthProtocol?

This read-write CmRemoteAuthProtocol selects which protocol, such as RADIUS or TACACS+, the device uses to authenticate remote users. An admin sets this to match whichever centralized AAA server the organization runs, so login credentials are validated against the right backend. For example, choosing TACACS+ here routes every CLI login attempt to the corporate TACACS+ server instead of checking only local accounts.
