Module: CM-ENTITY-MIB

OID (symbolic): CM-ENTITY-MIB::ethernet10x1GCardSnmpDyingGaspEnabled

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.2544.1.12.3.1.19.1.6

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: TruthValue

Access: read-write

Description: Whether or not SNMP dying gasp is enabled on the Ethernet 10x1G Card.

What is ethernet10x1GCardSnmpDyingGaspEnabled?

This read-write TruthValue turns on or off the SNMP dying-gasp trap for the Ethernet 10x1G card, a last-gasp notification the card tries to send the moment it loses power. Enabling it lets a monitoring station distinguish a graceful power-down from a silent crash, since the card gets one final message out before it goes dark. For example, if a Ethernet 10x1G card loses power during a site outage, an operator with this object enabled would receive a dying-gasp trap instead of just seeing the card vanish from polling with no explanation.
