This read-write DisplayString (up to 256 characters) lets an SNMP management station assign a free-text alias name to the BITS 16 Port Expansion Card, independent of its fixed MIB object name. It matters because a human-readable label like a site or circuit identifier makes the BITS 16 Port Expansion Card easier to recognize in inventory and fault listings than a bare index number. For example, an operator sets this alias to something like "Rack3-Slot2" on the BITS 16 Port Expansion Card so the NOC dashboard displays that label instead of an opaque physical index.
