This read-only string reports the SVC's current operational state in PVCR mode, one of OFF (inactive), CALL (waiting for the network's active signal), TEST, or DATA (actively passing traffic). An administrator watches this to know at a glance whether an on-demand circuit has actually completed call setup and is carrying data. For example, an SVC stuck in CALL rather than progressing to DATA would tell the administrator that call setup toward the destination is failing to complete.
