What is statIfwanProtocol?
This read-only enumerated value (off/p-sdlc/s-sdlc/hdlc/ddcmp) reports the operating mode of this WAN interface. An admin checks this to confirm the port is actually running the protocol expected for that circuit, rather than assuming from configuration alone. For example, statIfwanProtocol reporting hdlc(4) confirms this WAN port is currently operating in HDLC mode rather than one of the SDLC variants.
