Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: DisplayString

Access: read-only

Description: Identifier of the designated root for this port, that is, the bridge that this port considers to be the root bridge of the network. The bridge ID is an 8-byte hexadecimal label composed of the bridge priority level (the first 2 bytes) and the address of the adapter connecting the bridge to the LAN segment (or group) with the lowest number.

What is statBridgePortDesignatedRoot?

This read-only value is the 8-byte hexadecimal bridge identifier that this specific port considers to be the root of the spanning tree, combining bridge priority with the adapter address for the lowest-numbered attached LAN segment or group. An administrator compares this per-port value against statBridgeBridgeDesignatedRoot to verify every port on the unit agrees on the same root bridge. For example, if one port reports a different designated root than the rest of the unit's ports, the administrator would suspect a spanning-tree misconfiguration or a partitioned network segment.
