Description: The cost of the path to the root bridge provided by the designated port (see DESIGNATED PORT parameter, below). The designated port connects to the same LAN as the port being examined.
What is statBridgePortDesignatedCost?
This read-only value gives the path cost to the root bridge as advertised by the designated port on the same LAN segment that this port connects to. An administrator compares it against the port's own root cost to understand whether this port has the better path or should be yielding to the designated port. For example, if statBridgePortDesignatedCost is lower than the local port's cost, the administrator would expect this port to be in a blocking state rather than forwarding.
