Access: read-only
Description: Identifier of the designated bridge. This is an 8-byte hexadecimal label composed of the bridge priority level (the first 2 bytes) and the address of the adapter connecting the bridge to the LAN segment (or group) with the lowest number. For each LAN segment (or group), only one bridge is in the forwarding state at any one time. This is the designated bridge for that LAN (or group). All other bridges in the network are in the blocking state, and do not forward frames or build address tables.
What is statBridgePortDesignatedBridge?
This read-only value identifies, as an 8-byte hexadecimal bridge ID, which single bridge is currently in the forwarding state for the LAN segment or group that this port is attached to, since only one bridge may forward onto a given segment at a time. An administrator uses it to determine which physical bridge is actively carrying traffic for a shared segment. For example, after a topology change, the administrator would check statBridgePortDesignatedBridge to confirm which unit took over forwarding duties for that segment.
