puSdlcMaxFrame
Module: CLEARTRAC7-MIB
OID (symbolic): CLEARTRAC7-MIB::puSdlcMaxFrame
OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.727.7.2.4.2.1.13
Node type: OBJECT-TYPE
Type: INTEGER
Access: read-write
Description: For SDLC-LINKS, SDLC-LLC and SDLC-DLSW modes only. Maximum frame size on the SDLC side of the connection, excluding SNA headers. For an SDLC-LLC connection, if the value of this parameter is equal to that of the puLlcMaxFrame parameter, then no frame splitting will occur. On the other hand, if the value of this parameter is different from that of the puLlcMaxFrame parameter, the unit will split the frames according to the smaller max frame value. The same is true of an SDLC-DLSW connection, where the value of puSdlcMaxFrame is compared to that of puDlsMaxFrame.
What is puSdlcMaxFrame?
This read-write integer, applicable to SDLC-LINKS, SDLC-LLC, and SDLC-DLSW modes, sets the maximum frame size on the SDLC side of this PU's connection, excluding SNA headers, and the desc notes that if it equals puLlcMaxFrame no frame splitting occurs, but frames are split if the values differ. It lets the administrator control whether frames need to be fragmented and reassembled when crossing between the SDLC side and the LAN (LLC) side of this PU. For example, setting this object equal to puLlcMaxFrame for an SDLC-LLC PU avoids the extra overhead of frame splitting when relaying frames between the two sides.
