puRole

Module: CLEARTRAC7-MIB

OID (symbolic): CLEARTRAC7-MIB::puRole

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.727.7.2.4.2.1.5

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: For LLC-DLSW, LLC-LINKS and DLSW-LINKS modes only.

For LLC-DLSW and LLC-LINKS, this variable indicates whether the LLC side acts as a primary (facing the controller) or secondary (facing the host) unit. The unit automatically defines the other side with the opposite value.

For DLSW-LINKS, this variable indicates whether the DLSw side acts as a primary or secondary unit. The unit automatically defines the LINKS side with the opposite value.

What is puRole?

This read-write setting, applicable only to LLC-DLSW, LLC-LINKS, and DLSW-LINKS modes, indicates whether the LLC (or, for DLSW-LINKS, the corresponding) side of this PU acts as primary, facing the controller, or secondary, facing the host, with the unit automatically assigning the opposite role to the other side. It ensures the two halves of a bridged SNA connection agree on which end initiates versus responds. For example, setting this object to primary(2) on the LLC side facing a cluster controller means the unit automatically treats the other side of the PU as secondary facing the host.
