Description: Enables or disables password authentication for the area. If you select Simple Password, only those routers sharing the correct password will be able to communicate with each other.
What is ospfAreaAuthType?
This read-write enumerated value (none/simple/not-applicable/not-available) enables or disables password authentication for this OSPF area; with simple selected, only routers sharing the correct password can communicate. An admin enables simple authentication to prevent unauthorized routers from joining OSPF adjacencies within the area. For example, setting ospfAreaAuthType to simple(2) means routers in this area must present the matching password before their OSPF Hello packets are accepted.
