This read-write enumerated value (disable/enable/not-applicable/not-available) sets whether the unit's IPX router function is active; when enabled, the unit routes IPX frames between the different IPX networks it's connected to, and when disabled, IPX frames are instead bridged (if bridging is enabled) or discarded. An admin toggles this depending on whether the unit should act as a Layer-3 IPX router or simply pass frames through at Layer 2. For example, disabling ipxRouterEnable on a unit with bridging enabled means IPX traffic is bridged transparently instead of being routed between IPX network numbers.
