Description: Full Status Enquiry Cycle. The value of this parameter determines the number of STATUS ENQUIRY frames that the unit will send before sending a full status enquiry to the network. In response to a full status enquiry the network will send a full status report. This report indicates the currently active PVC on the network. The unit uses this information to determine if a particular PVC is ready to receive data. It is also used in determining the number of restart errors for PVCs in PVCR mode.
What is ifwanReportCycle?
This read-write integer, from 1 to 256, sets the Full Status Enquiry Cycle, determining how many regular STATUS ENQUIRY frames the unit sends before requesting a full status report listing all currently active PVCs from the network. An administrator tunes this to balance getting a comprehensive PVC status picture against the extra overhead a full status report requires compared to a simple enquiry. For example, a smaller report cycle value would request the comprehensive full PVC status more frequently, useful on networks where PVCs are added or removed often.
