Description: Modem control signal operating mode. If the port is DCE this parameter controls the operating mode of the DCD control signal. In STATIC mode the DCD signal is active at all times. In DYNAMIC mode it is active only when a frame is transmitted. If the port is DTE this parameter controls the operating mode of the RTS control signal. In STATIC mode the RTS signal is active at all times. In DYNAMIC mode it is active only when a frame is transmitted.
What is ifwanModem?
This read-write enumeration selects the modem control signal operating mode, static, dynamic, statpass, or dynapass, governing how the DCD or RTS control signal behaves on a WAN port depending on whether it is DCE or DTE. An administrator sets this according to whether the connected equipment expects a continuously active control signal (static) or one that only activates during frame transmission (dynamic). For example, a DTE port connected to equipment expecting RTS to toggle per-frame would be set to dynamic rather than static.
