classPrefRoute

Module: CLEARTRAC7-MIB

OID (symbolic): CLEARTRAC7-MIB::classPrefRoute

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.727.7.2.9.3.1.3

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: DisplayString

Access: read-write

Description: Identifies the name of the cleartrac unit to be used as the next hop for sending transparent or PVC multiplex data over multiple direct links (point-to-point or rack backbone connections), where more than one route is available and all available routes are equal in cost. Assigning a different preferred route to different classes ensures static load balancing of transparent traffic over all routes.

What is classPrefRoute?

This read-write string names the cleartrac unit to use as the next hop for a class's transparent or PVC multiplex traffic when several equal-cost direct links or rack backbone connections are available. It matters operationally because assigning different preferred routes to different classes lets an admin statically load-balance traffic across redundant physical paths instead of letting the system pick arbitrarily. For example, an admin could point a low-priority class's classPrefRoute at 'RACK2-UNIT' so its traffic takes a separate backbone path from the mission-critical class.

Examples

Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.727.7.2.9.3.1.3
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> CLEARTRAC7-MIB::classPrefRoute

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.727.7.2.9.3.1.3.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> CLEARTRAC7-MIB::classPrefRoute.1

Set instance 1 (SNMPv2c):

snmpset -v2c -c private <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.727.7.2.9.3.1.3.1 s <value>

SNMPv3 example:

snmpget -v3 -l authPriv -u snmpv3-user -a SHA -A "AuthPassword1" -x AES -X "PrivPassword1" <target> classPrefRoute.1
