Description: The interval, in seconds, between HELLO messages that the unit transmits to all LAN segments to which it is connected. HELLO messages carry timestamp information as well as information concerning the current root bridge. From this information the unit is able to determine the current network topology and compute the shortest delay paths to destination devices. Automatic single-route broadcast uses the HELLO message to detect when bridges enter and leave the network.
