commitCommand

Module: CLARENT-MIB

OID (symbolic): CLARENT-MIB::commitCommand

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.2858.100.1.7

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: DisplayString

Access: read-write

Description: Initiate a COMMIT command. In the SET command, specify the package name.

What is commitCommand?

Writing a package name to this string finalizes (commits) a previously prepared software package on the Clarent device, completing the multi-step package installation workflow. Network admins use it to apply a staged update only after confirming the PREPARE step succeeded, reducing the chance of leaving the gateway in a half-upgraded state. For instance, after prepareCommand succeeds for "voip-codec-2.3", the admin SETs commitCommand to the same package name to activate it.
