Module: CLAB-ANI-NID-MIB

OID (symbolic): CLAB-ANI-NID-MIB::clabAniNidCfgPtpMcastMac

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.4491.4.8.1.1.2

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: For transmitting PTP packets, either the forwardable multicast MAC address (01-1B-19-00-00-00) or the non-forwardable multicast MAC address (01-80-C2-00-00-0E) must be used as the destination MAC address. The MAC address in use is selected on a per-port basis through the configuration. However, the non-forwardable multicast MAC address (01-80-C2-00-00-0E) will be used if no destination MAC is configured.

What is clabAniNidCfgPtpMcastMac?

This INTEGER object selects whether the NID uses the forwardable (01-1B-19-00-00-00) or non-forwardable (01-80-C2-00-00-0E) multicast MAC address as the destination for transmitted PTP (Precision Time Protocol) packets, per port, defaulting to the non-forwardable address if unconfigured. A network engineer sets it to control whether PTP timing packets can traverse intermediate bridges or must stay link-local. For example, choosing forwardable(1) would be necessary if PTP messages need to cross an intermediate switch that would otherwise drop the non-forwardable multicast address.
