Module: CISCOSB-vlan-MIB
OID (symbolic): CISCOSB-vlan-MIB::vlanPrivateType
OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.6.1.101.48.59.1.2
Node type: OBJECT-TYPE
Type: INTEGER
Access: read-write
Description: private vlan types: primary - Carries traffic from promiscuous ports. promiscuous port can communicate with all ports of the same PVLAN, including the isolated and community ports of the same PVLAN.
isolated - Carries traffic from isolated ports. isolated ports can communicate only with the promiscuous ports of the same PVLAN.
community - Carries traffic from community ports. community ports of the same community can communicate among themselves and with the promiscuous ports of the same PVLAN.
What is vlanPrivateType?
This read-write INTEGER classifies a private VLAN as primary (carries promiscuous port traffic that can reach all ports in the PVLAN), isolated (its ports can only reach promiscuous ports), or community (its ports can reach each other and promiscuous ports but not isolated ports). An admin sets this when building a private VLAN topology to control exactly which port groups are allowed to communicate with each other. For example, setting vlanPrivateType to isolated(2) on a VLAN ensures its ports can only talk to the primary VLAN's promiscuous ports, not to each other.
